Methodology
We work with active verbal expression: classes are student‑centred, and you are continuously stimulated to speak in English. I guide, correct and help you improve communication, comprehension and writing skills, plus social interaction in varied situations. Topics are tailored to each student or small group, and you’re welcome to bring texts or presentations to review in class.
We also recommend time outside class with structured materials: reading articles of interest to learn vocabulary and expressions; watching short news clips and interviews (BBC English, DW English, Democracy Now, The Guardian, NY Times, Financial Times and other relevant sources) to practise listening and broaden your active vocabulary.
"We help you achieve your goals not only in class, but also with structured materials to accompany your journey outside of class."
About Tara
I’m an Irish citizen who grew up in New York State. I hold a double major in English and Spanish Literature (Hamilton College) and a law degree from SUNY @ Buffalo. I practised law for four years and worked in human and environmental rights in Guatemala, Ireland and Brazil.
In 2000 I moved to Brazil and began working directly with languages: reviewing English texts, translating from Portuguese and Spanish into English, and interpreting for Friends of the Earth – Brazil (including its Amazonia page) and for other human and environmental movements, NGOs, law firms and institutions. I have 25+ years’ experience teaching English. Since 2022, I have lived in Euskadi, Spain.
